The benefit of changing your brainwaves is that this can enable you to alter your experience of an emotion, how you manifest it, and how you handle it.

What is biofeedback?

Biofeedback is a non-invasive modality in which you learn to regulate physiological measures such as heart rate variability, respiration, skin conductance, skin temperature, and muscle tension. Through the use of sensors placed on the body these measures are reflected onto a computer screen in real time, often in the form of a video game. The video game moves as you learn to alter your physiology.

The goals of Biofeedback training are to increase awareness around how your physiology changes while under stress, as well as building skills to return to a calm, centered baseline.

Biofeedback training can be helpful for:

  • Stress reduction
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Enhancing meditation practices
  • Achieving peak performance

what is neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a form of Biofeedback in which you learn to regulate neurological brainwave patterns to enhance brain function. Similar to Biofeedback, non-invasive sensors are placed on specific areas of the head that read and reflect real-time brainwave patterns onto a computer screen. These brainwave patterns underly our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Thus, by learning to alter your brainwave patterns you can change the way you think, feel, and behave. More importantly, you can learn to shift more seamlessly between different brain states (focus vs. calm) according to the demands of your environment (completing tasks  vs. meditating).

Neurofeedback takes time and commitment, similar to if you were going to the gym to build muscle and endurance. The brain is a muscle that we aim to strengthen and make more flexible with training. Many people hire fitness trainers so why not a trainer for your brain?

Neurofeedback can be helpful for:

  • Improving cognitive and emotional flexibility
  • Increasing focus endurance
  • Increasing productivity
  • Stress reduction
  • Insomnia
  • Enhancing meditation practices
  • Achieving peak performance
Neurofeedback nudges the brain to produce more of some frequencies and less of others, creating new patterns that enhance its natural complexity and its bias toward self-regulation
